Outreach

Outreach is central to St. John's ministry as a downtown church. Through outreach, clergy and laity act on their faith in the world beyond the boundaries of the church. Christian action reaches out to the underprivileged, the sick, and the needy in our city, the country, and the world. Parishioners of all ages, all talents, and all interests will find opportunities to help others and share Christian fellowship at the same time. Faith is enriched and deepened by our deeds.

The Outreach Committee organizes and coordinates St. John's ministries to others. Co-chairs Ellen Parke and Susan Welch can be reached through the Parish Office at 202-347-8766. The office has a list of the Committee’s major projects and contact numbers for the project heads.

Casseroles for So Others Might Eat (S.O.M.E.). Empty pans are located in the Parish House.  Place casseroles in the freezer near the kitchen on the basement level of the Parish House. St. John's delivers them monthly to S.O.M.E.

When you travel, bring back unopened toiletry items for homeless shelters. Place them in the basket in the connector between the Church and the Parish House.
